FREDERICKSBURG, Va., Nov. 09, 2021 – Rebellion, a bourbon-focused restaurant located in Fredericksburg, provided appetizers and created the signature drink for Fredericksburg Virginia Main Street’s Downtown Affair held on Sunday, October 10. The usual five course meal street event was converted to an “At Home” dinner this year with a five-course boxed-meal delivery method.
This year the event raised approximately $60,000 which will benefit downtown beautification projects, promotional campaigns and workshops for downtown merchants and restaurants. Travis Weiss, Rebellion Chef Partner and Director of Culinary Concepts said, “Fredericksburg Main Street creates such a positive impact for our community, and we are lucky to be able to partner with them. We are already looking forward to next year’s!”
Rebellion’s appetizer spread featured two “Mini ReBLTs”, sliders with thinly sliced pork belly confit, roasted roma tomatoes and dressed greens served on a potato bun, as well as “Popcorn Shrimp Cocktail” with poached baby shrimp, oleo saccharum aioli and herb salad. The event’s signature drink, ‘The Main Street Derby’, featuring bourbon, sweet vermouth, Orange Curaçao and fresh lime juice garnished with a mint leaf. The cocktail recipe was supplied to event participants via a recipe card and was designed to be easily made at home with common home-bar-cart ingredients.
Rebellion and other participating restaurants delivered their final products to Fredericksburg Baptist Church which volunteers from Mountain View High School MC ROTC hand-delivered to 79 couples. Fredericksburg Main Street shared that one of its sponsors commented, “If food equals love, there was a whole lot of love at A Downtown Affair!”
